California Proposition 65 Warning
California’s Proposition 65 requires a warning where a product may expose a consumer to a chemical listed by the State of California as causing cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.
Why alcohol can carry a warning
Alcoholic beverages can contain trace substances that appear on the Proposition 65 list, and alcohol itself is listed in relation to reproductive harm. Because of this, products shipped to California may carry a Proposition 65 warning on the packaging or be accompanied by one.
What the warning means
A Proposition 65 warning is a disclosure requirement. It does not mean the product has been found unsafe, and it does not replace the government warning about alcohol and pregnancy.
